Edward Bachner
Edward Bachner is an Illinois man who was arrested on July 1, 2008, after he attempted to order 98 milligrams of tetrodotoxin from a New Jersey chemical supply company. Tetrodotoxin is a potent poison produced by the pufferfish to immobilize its prey.

Bachner's Order
According to authorities, Bachner allegedly posed as a "Dr. Edmond Backer", and claimed to represent the fictitious "EB Strategic Research" so as to order the toxin. Tetrodotoxin is used mainly for scientific research and is usually sold in small quantities. Bachner ordered 98 milligrams of the substance and the New Jersey company contacted the FBI.1 Possession of the toxin without federal approval is a felony and Bachner could face up to ten years in prison if convicted.1
