Edgerrin James
Edgerrin James is an all-pro National Football League running back, currently playing for the Arizona Cardinals. Before signing with the Cardinals, James played six years with the Indianapolis Colts.
On January 2, 2009, Edgerrin James announced that he expects the 2008-2009 season with the Cardinals to be his last. James stated to ESPN reporter Bob Holtzman, "I can't go through this again. I didn't come here to block. I'm not an offensive lineman." James has been relegated to back-up running back since the Cardinals named Tim Hightower the featured back.1

Years in Indianapolis
A record setting running back at the University of Miami, Edgerrin James went on to sign a $49 million contract as the forth overall pick in the 1999 NFL draft. In his first two years as the running back for the Indianapolis Colts, James ran for 3,262 yards and 26 touchdowns. However, in 2001, James was stricken with a career threatening injury when he tore is Anterior cruciate ligament. Although sidelined for the rest of the 2001 season, James rebounded in the 2002 campaign, and was back in full force during the 2004 and 2005, season where he was able to total 3,054 yards and 22 touchdowns. He left the Colts after the 2005 season and signed a four-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals.

On November 19, 2008, news agencies reported that James requested to be released by the Cardinals but the team declined. James is expected to be released at the end of the season and has been phased out of the Cardinals offense in the 2008 season.2
