Career

Burroughs started writing pulp fiction stories in 1911. The following year Under the Moons of Mars was published. During his full time career in writing, he finished two novels including Tarzan of the Apes in 1912 and went on to begin his most successful series. Tarzan was a cultural sensation and was exploited to several different media. In 1923, Burroughs set up his own company, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., and began printing his own books.
