Megan Touma's Murder
The body of Megan Touma, a dental specialist with the U.S. Army, was found in the bathtub of a hotel room in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on June 22, 2008. On June 30, 2008, Fayetteville police ruled that Touma's death was a homicide and stated they were holding a "person of interest" in connection with the killing.4
On June 25, 2008, the Fayetteville Observer received an anonymous letter from a person claiming to be the killer. The letter was signed with a symbol similar to the signature used by the Zodiac Killer in the late 1960s.5 Police believe the letter to be an attempt to mislead investigators.6
