Also referred to as a chest of drawers or a bureau, the dresser first came into prominence in Medieval times and has since become an essential member of the bedroom set. Items best stored in a dresser include socks, underwear, lingerie, clothing meant to be folded rather than hung, and other smaller miscellaneous items like keepsakes and various clothing accessories.
