Career

After teaching counselor education at St. John's University, Dyer quit his job and vigorously promoted his first book, Your Erroneous Zones, which contained the positive thinking techniques he taught. The book went on to sell over 30 million copies. Dyer continues to tour and promote his writings. His book, Living The Wisdom Of The Tao, was published in 2008.

Philosophy

Through his lectures, Dyer pressed upon his audience the goal of self-actualization: the pursuit of reaching one's full potential. He also advocates the idea of "self-reliance" as opposed to organized religion. Instead of worshiping Jesus Christ, Dyer believes that you should strive to emulate his kindness and love. In other words, be Christ-like instead of Christian.
