Scottish singer/songwriter Donovan began his career in 1965 as a frequent performer on the pop television program Ready Steady Go!. He is known for his psychedelic blend of rock, jazz and folk on songs such as "Catch The Wind," "Hurdy-Gurdy Man," "Jennifer Juniper" and "Atlantis."

Beatle Buddy

Donovan was a close friend to The Beatles and influenced John Lennon's and Paul McCartney's guitar playing with his finger-picking style. He contributed lyrics to their song "Yellow Submarine."

Donovan's highest charting album in America was his 1969 greatest hits set, which included his two biggest hits "Sunshine Superman," which hit the top of the Billboard charts, and "Mellow Yellow," which went to No. 2.
