Donnette Sanz
August 14, 2008: Donnette Sanz, who was 7 months pregnant, was crossing an intersection in New York City when she was struck by a van and pinned under a school bus. Approximately 30 people rushed to her aide, lifting the 5-ton bus off of her. Sanz's baby son was delivered by Caesarean section at a nearby hospital, but Sanz died shortly after.1 The infant son that she delivered passed away on August 22, 2008.2
