Guide Note: Don and Susan Van Ryn are just two of the authors of the new book, Mistaken Identity that chronicles their journey after the accident their daughter, Laura Van Ryn was in along with Whitney Cerak and 7 other people. They were told their daughter had survived and Whitney had not. Five weeks went by before they realized the truth that their daughter had died and Whitney was the one lying in the hospital bed. Mistaken Identity also delves into the heartbreak the experienced after the truth was learned and the struggles that Whitney Cerak went through following the accident. They co-wrote the book with Whitney Cerak, her parents, Colleen and Newell Cerak and contributor, Mark Tabb.
