Dolma

Dolma is a stuffed vegetable dish, common to Turkey, Greece, and surrounding countries. The filling can be meat, rice, a grain, or a mixture. Meat dolmas are generally served warm, while meatless ones are often served cold. Common vegetables used include zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes and bell peppers.

Sarma

While many Americans think stuffed grape leaves are dolma, they are in fact called sarma - the term for any dish in which leaves are wrapped around a filling. Other leaves that are used include cabbage and collard greens. In many areas, the fine distinction is not made, and both dishes fall under the name "dolma".
