Early Life

Devin Lamar Harris was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on February 27, 1983. He attended Wauwatosa East High School and then continued his education at the University of Wisconsin. He played for the Badgers basketball team for three seasons. In 2004, Harris was selected with the 5th pick in the NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards.¹

Pro Career

The rights to Devin Harris was acquired by the Dallas Mavericks in a trade with the Washington Wizards. In the deal, the Mavericks obtained Harris, Jerry Stackhouse and Christian Laettner, while the Wizards received Antawn Jamison. ² Harris played in 76 games in his first season with the Mavericks. He averaged 5.7 points and 2.2 assists as a back-up point guard for the team.³ In 2007, Harris was traded to the New Jersey Nets with DeSagana Diop, Maurice Ager, Trenton Hassell and Keith Van Horn for Jason Kidd, Malik Allen, and Antoine Wright. ⁴
