NFL Career
Derek Anderson was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2005, but was released before ever playing. Anderson was then signed off of waivers by the Browns. He did not see any playing time his first year as a third-string quarterback. In 2006, Anderson played in five games and started three of them. He threw for 793 yards with five touchdowns and eight interceptions.2
Charlie Frye was named the Browns' starter for the 2007 season. After a poor performance in the season opener, Frye was replaced with Anderson. Anderson went on to start the remaining 15 games, leading the Browns to a 10-5 record as a starter. Anderson threw for 3,787 yards with 29 touchdowns and 19 interceptions as the Browns narrowly missed making the playoffs.2 Anderson finished with a quarterback rating of 82.5 and was named to his first Pro Bowl.3
