Darwyn Cooke
Popular comic book artist and writer Darwyn Cooke entered the comic's industry after years working as an editorial illustrator and magazine art director. His first comics-related job was actually working as a storyboard artist for the animated productions Batman: The Animated Series and Superman: The Animated Series.
In 2000, DC Comics published Cooke's stand-alone graphic novel Batman: Ego. The project was a critical success and led to additional freelance work with DC. In 2001, Cooke teamed up with writer Ed Brubaker to revamp the Catwoman character. That was followed by the six-issue miniseries DC: The New Frontier, which sought to bridge the gap between the golden and silver ages of comic books in the DC Universe.
Cooke is also responsible for revamping Will Eisner's classic comic book character The Spirit for contemporary audiences.
