The lakefront home of Darcy Burner, a former Microsoft executive who is running as a Democrat for the Washington congressional seat currently held by incumbent Dave Reichert, burned down on July 1, 2008. The fire, which began sometime after 7:30 a.m. engulfed the Burner home, but Burner, her husband, and her son, were all able to escape. A family cat died in the blaze.1

The Burner Campaign
After leaving Microsoft in 2006, Burner ran for Congress in 2006 against Dave Reichert, but lost by a narrow margin.2 In 2008, she announced her plans to challenge Reichert again.
