Daniel Alfredsson

Guide Note

All-Star National Hockey League player Daniel Alfredsson is the team captain of the Ottawa Senators and plays on the Senators' first line with Dany Heatley and Jason Spezza. Since joining the NHL in 1995, Alfredsson has consistently been one of the League's top scorers and has been instrumental in the Senators' reaching the post season every year he's been with the team, with the exception of his rookie season.

Alfredsson was drafted by the Senators 133rd overall during the sixth round of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. He joined Ottawa for the 1995-1996 season, during which he earned 61 points in 82 games and received the Calder Trophy as the NHL's rookie of the year.

Alfredsson has spent his entire twelve-year career with the Senators and has set new franchise records for most points, assists and goals in both the regular and post seasons. In early January of 2008, Alfredsson scored his 500th career goal and set a new franchise record by earning seven points in one game.
