MMA Career
Dan Henderson began training for mixed martial arts competition in 1997. After victories in various tournaments, Henderson joined the PRIDE Fighting Championships where he competed in both the middleweight and heavyweight divisions. On February 14, 2007, Henderson won the the PRIDE middleweight title while already holding the welterweight title. This made him the first fighter to hold two different weight class titles simultaneously in the same organization.1
On March 1, 2008, Henderson fought Anderson Silva to unify the PRIDE welterweight and UFC middleweight titles. Henderson was defeated by Silva in the match that took place at UFC 82.
