Judi Dench
Celebrated British actress Dame Judi Dench has played James Bond's boss, "M" since 1995. Dench continues her role in the 2008 film, Quantum of Solace, which stars Daniel Craig as 007.1
Dench began her career on the stage in 1957 with the prestigious Old Vic Company, and in 1961 joined the Royal Shakespeare Company. Her film debut was The Third Secret, in 1964. Subsequent film credits include Mrs. Brown, Chocolat, and Shakespeare in Love.

Dench as "M"
One of Dench's more visible modern roles has been "M," James Bond's superior, in the popular series of spy films. Dench first appeared as M in the 1995 Bond film Goldeneye, opposite Pierce Brosnan as the infamous secret agent. Dench is the first female to portray the shadowy MI6 officer. The role was originally played by Bernard Lee in the first 11 Bond films; he was replaced in 1983's Octopussy' by Robert Brown.
