On July 1, 2008, it was reported that Cynthia Rodriguez' husband, Alex Rodriguez, had been spotted making late-night visits to Madonna's New York home. ¹²

Cynthia Rodriguez filed for divorce on July 7, 2008. She had hired Houston lawyer Earle Lilly to represent her in a divorce suit against Alex Rodriguez. The suit claims a "long period of infidelity on the part or Mr. Rodriguez," as well as "emotional abandonment." C. Rodrigues is trying to get primary custody of her two daughters.^{3 4 5 6}

On September 19, 2008, Rodriguez and her ex-husband Major League Baseball star Alex Rodriguez announced that they have reached a settlement. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The former couple have decided put the needs of their children at the forefront and will attempt to maintain an amicable relationship as they raise their two daughters.⁷
