Debuting in 2006 to mixed reviews, Curtains was nominated for eight Tony Awards and nine Drama Desk Awards. David Hyde Pierce won the "Best Peformance by a Leading Actor" Tony, and co-star Debra Monk won the "Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical" Drama Desk Award.
In March 2008, it was announced that the play would close on June 29 of that year.
