Cubist Fernand

French artist and painter Fernand Léger was a member of the avant-garde Puteaux Group, most frequently associated with an offshoot of Cubism known as Orphism. During his lifetime, he produced paintings, sculptures and one short film, Ballet Mechanique.

Cubism

Cubism is an artistic philosophy developed in France in the early 20th century. In Cubism, painted images were broken down and reconstructed using geometrical shapes, and tended to be sharp and angular. Cubist paintings were a radial break from more photo realistic styles that had dominated the world of 19th century art.²
