Crocs

Crocs is a Colorado-based, publicly traded footwear manufacturer. The company's main product is a clog-like, lightweight plastic shoe that has become popular around the world. Crocs, Inc. estimates its revenue for 2008 will exceed $195 million.¹

The Shoes

Between 2006 and 2007, Crocs shoes became a major international fad, on or above par with the early-1980s fad of plastic "Jelly" shoes. Like their predecessors, Crocs come in bright colors and are plastic-based. Unlike Jellies, however, which were made of relatively rigid PVC, Crocs use an extremely soft, patented foam called "croslite," which is promoted as having beneficial orthopedic effects. In late 2006, there were reports of children-sized Crocs becoming caught in escalators.⁴

In 2008, the company introduced its first ever line of high heeled crocs shoe, called, "Cyprus."^{5 6}
