Creamed onions is a dish traditionally made with tiny white pearl onions, heavy cream or milk, butter and flour and topped with grated nutmeg.

• 16 ounces pearl onions, canned or frozen and thawed
• 1/4 cup butter
• 1/4 cup flour
• 1/2 cup milk
• Salt and pepper, to taste

1. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.
2. Add the flour, salt and pepper, mixing constantly.
3. Mix in the milk, stirring constantly as the mixture thickens. Remove from heat.
4. In a separate saucepan, steam or boil the pearl onions.
5. Add the cooked onions to the milk and flour mixture. Add additional salt and pepper if desired.
6. Serve and enjoy!
