Craig Counsell

Major League Baseball infielder Craig Counsell currently plays for the Milwaukee Brewers. He was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the 2001 National League Championship Series.

Early Years Prior to his MLB career, Counsell attended and played for the University of Notre Dame. He was then drafted by the Colorado Rockies on June 1, 1992. Colorado Rockies Following his first few seasons with the Rockies minor league affiliates, Counsell was called up to make his MLB debut on September 17, 1995. He played just three games in 1995 with the Rockies, then was sent to the minors for the entire 1996 season. He rejoined the Rockies for one more game in 1997 before he was traded. Florida Marlins On July 27, 1997, Counsell was traded to the Florida Marlins. He made his first post season appearance in 1997, winning the World Series with the Marlins. Dodgers and Diamondbacks Counsell was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 15, 1999. Following the 1999 season, he was released and signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks on March 20, 2000.

Counsel returned to the playoffs in 2001 as the Diamondbacks won the World Series. It was in this playoff run when he won his NLCS MVP award, as the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Atlanta Braves. Brewers, Diamondbacks and Brewers again On December 1, 2003, Counsell was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers, where he played during the 2004 season. After being granted free agency, Counsell returned to the Diamondbacks, signing on December 21, 2004.

Following two seasons in Arizona, Counsell re-signed as a free agent with the Brewers on November 29, 2006. Fast Facts:
