Collapsed Carnival Ride Calaveras County

24 people, mostly children and teenagers were injured Friday, May 16, 2008 at the Calaveras County Fair in Angels Camp, California. The ride called the "Yo-Yo" spins chairs attached to chains around a pole. As the ride picks up speed, the chairs are swung outward. According to reports, the center pole collapsed, causing the seats to hit the ground and other parts of the ride.

Injuries

Three of the riders were airlifted to the hospital, but are currently in stable condition. Most of the injuries caused by the ride were minor and many people experienced knee pain.
