Claire McCaskill VP
Senator Claire McCaskill from Missouri is a strong supporter of Senator Barack Obama in his presidential campaign. Obama told a St. Louis newspaper that if he wins the campaign, McCaskill will be someone "who has the utmost access to the Obama administration". 1 On August 23, 2008, Obama formally invited Delaware Senator Joe Biden to serve as his running mate.

On June 13, 2008, CNN's Wolf Blitzer asked McCaskill if she thinks she may be on the list of potential running mates for Obama. McCaskill responded, "I have complete trust in Senator Obama's judgment in this regard, And I can't wait to help president Obama swing some really strong punches for change as a senator from Missouri in the United States Senate."1
