The Red Bottom

After opening a small boutique in Paris, Louboutin continued to toy with the design of his shoes after being inspired by a sign at the Museum of Oceanic Art that requested women should be careful not to scratch the wooden floor with their shoes. With this, Louboutin continued to think about the sole design of the shoe and soon decided to trademark it after seeing one of his employee's red Chanel nail polish on. Immediately, he decided to paint the bottoms red.

The Buzz

Hollywood has caught on to the red bottom shoe craze with celebrities ranging from Angelina Jolie to Mariah Carey to Britney Spears wearing the hot footwear. Christina Aguilera wore the shoes on many of her Back to Basics tour dates and Madonna wore them during her Live Earth Performance.
