Chris Evert Career Highlights

Chris Evert was known for her smart playing style. Between 1973 and 1979, she won 125 consecutive matches and was ranked number one in the world in 1975. She continued her top ranking in 1976, 1977, 1980, and 1981. For seventeen years, she was ranked in the World Top Ten and was one of the first players to win more than 1,000 singles matches.¹

Off the Court

During Evert's professional court time, she was the WTA president from 1975-1976 and from 1983-1991. In 1996, Chris Evert started the Evert Tennis Academy, partnering with IMG, the world's largest sports marketing firm. The Academy, located in Boca Raton, Florida, offers a blend of academics and tennis with a large campus that also provides living accommodations.²
