Chest pain can be felt in many ways, including pressure, squeezing, aching, and stabbing. In some cases chest pain is a warning sign of something serious. One of the most common visits to the emergency room is from chest pain. Although chest pain is not always a signal of a heart attack it is still very important to determine the cause. Any organ or tissue within your chest can cause chest pain. Angina is a common heart related cause of chest pain.

Some common non-cardiac causes of chest pain include panic attack, heartburn, pleurisy asthma and pneumonia. There are a variety of other things that can cause chest pain but you should be examined by a doctor to rule out heart problems if it is persistent.

You can also experience chest pain due to problems in the digestive system. Heartburn and indigestion is a common cause of chest pain. You can also have chest pain from ulcers or gallstones.
