Chauncey Billups

Chauncey Billups is a point guard for the NBA's Detroit Pistons. Billups was a highly recruited high school player that decided to play for the University of Colorado. He was drafted into the NBA by the Boston Celtics in 1997, bounced around the league before solidifying a roster spot on the Detroit Pistons in 2002.

Early Years

Chauncey Billups was born in Denver, Colorado and was a high school standout. He was invited to play at the McDonald's All-American Game, however, could not attend due to an injury. He later attended the University of Colorado where he averaged 18.5 point per game.

NBA Years

Billups was drafted out of the the first round by the Boston Celtics. However, he was traded mid-way through his first season to the Toronto Raptors. In 2002, Billups signed as a free-agent to the Detroit Pistons. Two years later he lead the Pistons to an NBA championship, of which he became the MVP of. In the 2004 NBA Finals Billups scored on average 21 points per game, which helped the Pistons upset the favored Los Angeles Lakers in five games.
