Charlotte Sometimes began writing at the age of fourteen. By the time she graduated high school, she had self-released several homemade EP's. In 2008, Charlotte Sometimes released her debut full length album, Waves and the Both of Us, after signing with Geffen Records.

Career

Charlotte Sometimes had been performing most of her life as a dancer and in musical theater. She had also been writing poetry and at the age fourteen, she picked up a guitar and began to put her poetry to music. Her father suggested that she needed a collaborator, but Charlotte Sometimes disagreed and went on to compose music her way. She began performing in New York at small festivals while she was attending college and at the age of nineteen she signed with Geffen Records and began creating her first full length album.

Band Name

Charlotte Sometimes chose her name after her favorite children's book, Charlotte Sometimes by Penelope Farmer. Not only was her middle name Charlotte but she had associated herself with the character in this book. Being able to transport somewhere else and be someone else was fascinating to her.
