Charles Sobhraj

Charles Sobhraj is a confessed serial killer who has managed to elude prosecution for most of his suspected crimes. Sobhraj is thought to have committed 12 to 24 murders throughout Asia in the 1970s.¹

Prosecution

Though Sobhraj has admitted to three murders, they do not include the one for which he has been convicted: the 1975 killing of a tourist in Nepal. He was found guilty of the murder in 2004, and is currently in a Nepalese prison serving a life term.¹

Engagement

According to reports in July 2008, Sobhraj was engaged to marry Nihita Biswas, a Nepalese woman 44 years his junior.¹ The pair met through Sobhraj's lawyer, and planned to marry in France, pending an appeal for release with the Nepal Supreme Court.¹
