History
- 1902: Received its start as Kaspare Cohn Hospital, when the Los Angeles Jewish community had concerns about the growing health needs in the area.
- 1910: Moved and was renamed Cedars of Lebanon Hospital
- 1961: Known as the Los Angeles Jewish Medical Center
- 1972: Started construction on a new medical center with a $4 million gift from the foundation of the Max Factor family.
- April 3, 1976: First patients were admitted to the new Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Today Cedars-Sinai Medical Center has become known for its excellence in patient care and is one of the largest non profit hospitals in the western U.S5
Quaid Twins
While in the hospital in 2007, Dennis Quaid's twins survived a near fatal drug overdose of the blood thinner Heparin. Cedars-Sinai Medical Center was fined $25,000. The Quaids have also filed a lawsuit against Baxter Healthcare Corp., the maker of Heparin.11 5
