The documentary mini-series Carrier premiered on PBS during the week of April 27 through March 1, 2008 The entire series is ten hours long and follows a group of marines as they depart on an extended mission.

Filming
The filming of Carrier took place over a six month period. Seventeen filmmakers boarded the USS Nimitz as it headed to Iraq. They set out on May 7, 2005 and returned November 8, 2005. During the trip they stopped in places such as Hong Kong, Guam, Pearl Harbor and Australia. The sailors and marines aboard took an active interest in the filming and helped the filmmakers capture many of their experiences.
