Carl Eller
Carl Eller is a former
National Football League defensive end who played in four
Super Bowls and was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2004. Eller played for the
Minnesota Vikings from 1964 to 1978, and for the
Seattle Seahawks in 1979.
In February 2006, Eller was arrested for driving under the influence after police stopped him for traveling 97 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. In April 2008, Eller was again arrested for both driving under the influence and assaulting two Minneapolis police officers. The officers received facial injuries in the altercation. According to police, Eller was Tased several times, but the shocks had no effect on the former defensive end.
Eller helped set up the NFL's first drug program. He has said that he had begun drinking heavily in high school and by the end of his career was abusing cocaine and other drugs.
