Captain Rainbow was announced in Japan on July 2, 2008. Not much is known about the game except that it is a free-ranging adventure/simulation game similar to Animal Crossing.¹ The trailer shows Nick, the alter ego of the titular hero, waking up on the Mimin Islands. Although there has not been any confirmed gameplay, it appears from the trailer that Nick can collect food and cook while Captain Rainbow can uncover hidden passageways. The characters on the island are all from the Nintendo family. The main featured character in the trailer is Birdo. The trailer was released on July 9, 2008. There has been no official announcement regarding the release date or if it will be available in North America.
