Cameron Diaz received a mixed reaction from fashion critics for her Oscar wardrobe. Julia Turner from Slate Magazine said Diaz "looked like she was of another moment."¹

On the other hand, fashion blog Catwalk Queen stated Diaz's dress looked like "intricate Japanese origami" and "[showed] off her slim figure so well."² Diaz was also named by People Magazine as one of the best dressed on the red carpet.³

Though she was not nominated for any awards at the Oscar ceremony, Diaz presented the "Best Cinematography" Oscar to Robert Elswit.
