Calculus

Guide Note
Calculus is the field of math pertaining to derivatives, limits, definite and indefinite integrals and power series.
Fast Facts
- Calculus dates back to 1800 BC
- The two basic areas of calculus are differential and integral calculus
- Primary development credited to Isaac Newton and Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz
Glossary
- Limit: Describes the behavior of a function's output as the input nears a given input
- derivative: Is a measures the rate of change of a function at a given input
- Integral: The opposite of a derivative, the result is a function that is capable of measuring the area located between the original function and the abscissa over a given range
- Power Series: An infinite series of coefficients/variable products that is raised to an incrementally increasing power
