Buckhead Library
The Buckhead Branch Library in Atlanta, Georgia, was opened in 1989, and although some felt the building was unsightly, it won praise from architects from across the country.1 In 2008, developer Ben Carter planned to raze the library to make way for the Streets of Buckhead redevelopment project.

Opposition
Many in the community oppose Carter's plans to tear down the library.1 Carter has offered to rebuild the library at a different location, an offer that original architect Mack Scogin finds ridiculous.3 Community opposition to the razing of the Buckhead Library grew after Carter's plans became public.
