Brutal Legend

Brutal Legend is an action adventure game under development by Double Fine Productions for the Xbox 360 and PS3, scheduled for release in 2008. It follows the story of Eddie Riggs, a roadie for a heavy metal band. One night as Riggs is tuning a guitar, he is injured and his blood drips onto his belt buckle. Before he knows what is happening, the blood brings the beast on his buckle to life, transporting him into an alternative reality that is Heavy Metal/Nordic- inspired, where demons have enslaved humanity.

Gameplay

As a third person action-adventure game, the gameplay in Brutal Legend is similar to others in the genre. Eddie Riggs wields a battle axe he found at the beginning of the game as his primary melee weapon; his second is a guitar he brought with him from the real world. A forward attack has Eddie attacking his enemies with the battle axe a wider slash attack takes out a larger quantity of enemies. Eddie plays the V-Factor guitar, imbued with magical powers) to cast magic spells. The guitar can also be used as a ranged assault weapon, when wielded players can perform a guitar solo in response to your combo-styled button presses, similar to gameplay in Johnny Whatever. Possible attacks include a pyrotechnics attack that burns your enemies. A third weapon is the Deuce, a drop-top coupe that Eddie builds out of spare parts. The Deuce can be used to run enemies over, or to travel the large game world.
