Story
Brother in Arms: Road to Hill 30 revolves around the main protagonist, Matt Baker. The game takes place over seven days as the 101st Airborne Division go behind enemy lines. Almost all of the locations are historical and are taken directly from the experiences of the 502nd Regiment.1
Gameplay
Brother in Arms: Road to Hill 30 is a first-person shooter. Players control one or two battalions of 1-3 man teams. There are two different types of team:
- Fire team: made of soldiers with the M1 Garand and the Browning Automatic Rifle. Good for suppressing enemy fire.
- Assault team: made of soldiers with the M1A1 Carbine and Thompson submachine gun. Good for flanking the enemy.
Players also can control a tank on some levels. The targeting in the game is inaccurate and is supposed to increase the difficulty of hitting targets. There are four different difficulty levels:
- Easy
- Normal
- Difficult
- Authentic (unlocked after completing the game) - no save points, on-screen indicators are disabled.2
Reception
Brothers in Game: Road to Hill 30 received an 82/100 from metacritic and a 9.1 from IGN. Critics complained about the high level of difficulty of the levels and the imperfect aiming.3
