Brittany Zimmermann

21-year-old Brittany Zimmermann was found dead in her apartment on Wednesday, April 2, 2008.

Zimmermann's fiance found her body in the apartment they shared. He has been ruled out as a suspect.

Though the exact cause of death has not been released, investigators say that the death was "suspicious" and are investigating it as a homicide that occurred during a "random crime."

A 911 call was made from Zimmermann's cell phone shortly before her death wherein the operator hung up and never called the number back.

911 Call

Zimmermann made a call to 911 from her cell phone just before she was killed.

The 911 operator hung up on her after she didn't respond to a question and took other calls that were waiting. One of those calls was a hang-up and the operator called it back.

The 911 operator failed to call Zimmermann back, as is procedure, and never sent police to Zimmermann's location.

It is not known if a better response from the call would have prevented her death or helped catch the killer.

The content of the call has not been made public but it's reported that enough information was provided that it should have been taken seriously.
