2008 Tour de France
On July 5, 2008, Brest was the location that kicked off the Tour de France bicycle race. Cyclists rode from Brest to the town of Plumelec for the 122+ mile (197.5 kilometer) first stage of the competition. The stage was won by Alejandro Valverde.1
