Glossary

  1. Plant: All life forms that fall under the kingdom Plantae, including trees, algae, moss, grass and vines
  2. Chlorophyll: Green substance found in plants that contains Chloroplasts and enables photosynthesis
  3. Leaf: Organ with a large surface area that is well suited for capturing sunlight during photosynthesis
  4. Photosynthesis: Chemical process that creates oxygen and carbohydrates from water, sun light and carbon dioxide
  5. Flower: The reproductive structure found in some plants where pollination and fertilization take place
  6. Cell Wall: A firm outer layer that surrounds plant cells and is not found in animal cells
  7. Mycology: Subfield of botany that focuses on fungi
