Bobby Abreu is an All-Star Right fielder for the New York Yankees. He is widely recognized for his excellent plate discipline, consistently near the top every year for walks, and pitches seen during a plate appearance. He is also renown for his excellent defense winning a Gold Glove Award in 2005. In 2005, he won the Home Run Derby contest.

Bob Kelly Abreu was born in Turmero, Aragua State, Venezuela on March 11, 1974.

Abreu made his Major league debut on September 1, 1996 with the Houston Astros He would be claimed in the expansion draft in 1997 by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays but then traded to Philadephia Phillies. In Philadelphia he would establish himself a productive hitter and legitimate power threat. He would earn his first All-Star selection in 2004, as the winner of the All-Star Final Vote winner for the National League. The following season he would be selected a starter, and would win the 2005 Home Run Derby contest during All-Star Weekend. He would complete the 2005 campaign picking up a Gold Glove Award. In 2006, Abreu was traded along with Cory Lidle to the New York Yankees.
