Bob Ross
Bob Ross was an American landscape painter who hosted the popular educational television show The Joy of Painting. He employed the wet-on-wet technique, which allowed him to finish a painting in less than 30 minutes.1

Early Life and Career
Bob Ross was the son of a carpenter and studied mechanics in college. He joined the U.S. Air Force and served in Alaska for several years.1 Alaskan nature inspired many of his landscapes, which he later painted from memory.
Television Show
He learned the wet-on-wet painting technique from William Alexander. Combining his painting skills with good-natured approach he conquered audiences with his television show The Joy of Painting. Due to the show's success Bob Ross became a globally recognized figure and made millions of dollars selling art supplies and how-to books.1
