The Blood Type Diet is a nutrition plan that was popularized with the release of Peter D'Adamo's best-selling book Eat Right 4 Your Type. D'Adamo claims that the diet, which is based on an individual's blood type, will not only bring about weight loss, but can assist with allergy and infection resistance and overall good health.1

Type-Specific Recommendations
People with type O should consume lean meats, poultry, and fish, while they should avoid whole grains, legumes, bread and beans. In regards to exercise, D'Adamo says to exercise rigorously and frequently.1
While people with type A should exercise gently, they should consume foods such as soy, whole grain and vegetables.1
Type B people should stay away from wheat, corn, and lentils, while good foods to stick to are low-fat dairy and meat. D'Adamo recommends moderate exercise for people with type B.1
Although people with type AB should avoid chicken, pork and beef, they can have tofu, seafood and dairy. Additionally, relaxing exercise is recommended for people with type AB.1
