Bill Richardson

Guide Note: Former congressman, UN Ambassador, and Energy Secretary Bill Richardson became the governor of New Mexico in 2003, and is currently serving his second four-year term. Richardson was chairman of the 2004 Democratic National Convention, and sought the Democratic nomination in the 2008 Presidential race, but dropped out after finishing in fourth place in the New Hampshire Primary. Richardson is the only Hispanic governor in the US (not including territories such as Puerto Rico). On March 21, he endorsed Barack Obama for the 2008 Democratic nomination.
