Bill Guerin

American professional ice hockey player Bill Guerin plays with the New York Islanders in the National Hockey League. Guerin has been selected for four NHL All-Star Games and has served as captain of the Islanders since 2007.

NHL Career

Guerin was drafted fifth overall in the 1989 NHL draft by the New Jersey Devils. Rather than joining the NHL right away, Guerin attended and played for Boston College for two years. He joined the Devils in 1991 for his NHL debut and helped the team win the Stanley Cup Championship in 1995. Guerin was traded to the Edmonton Oilers on January 4, 1998. He stayed in Edmonton for just short of three seasons before he was traded to the Boston Bruins on November 15, 2000. Guerin completed the 2001-02 season with the Bruins, then entered free agency and signed with the Dallas Stars on July 3, 2002. After four seasons in Dallas, Guerin signed with the St. Louis Blues in 2006, then was traded to the San Jose Sharks the following year. On July 5, 2007, he signed as a free agent with the New York Islanders.
