Big Trouble in Little China
In the 1986 John Carpenter comic fantasy Big Trouble in Little China, Kurt Russell portrays Jack Burton, a truck driver who tangles with a 2000-year-old sorcerer while trying to save his friend's fiancee. Carpenter and Russell had previously collaborated on The Thing, Escape From New York and a biopic about Elvis Presley.

Plot Summary
Jack Burton, a truck driver who sounds a bit like John Wayne, goes to the airport to pick up his friend Wang Chi's (Dennis Dun) girlfriend. Before they can meet up, with girl is kidnapped by bandits. To save her, Burton and Wang Chi must venture into a secret lair beneath Chinatown controlled by the evil Lo Pan (James Hong).
