I love robots... so much in fact I have written a book about a robot created in the 1940's named Task Zeno. Interested? It's an illustrated scifi novel, Check it out at www.williamherod.com, (there are videos on youtube as well)
Thanks, Task Zeno

So many "evil robots" are really "evil cyborgs": the Daleks, Cybermen (Cyberpeople, really), Brainiac from the Superfriends and Dick van Dyke all fall into this category. Resident Evil's Alice AI isn't mobile, mostly, so she's out. So's the robot brain from "I, Robot," but all the little evil robots might apply. What about the robot overlords from "The Matrix?" They did enslave humanity and put us in a position where Keanu Reeves would be our savior, which is cruel *and* unusual.
Other contenders: Legion of Super-Heroes villain "C.O.M.P.U.T.O." (http://www.dcuguide.com/who.php?name=COMPUTO)
The Boston Dynamics "Big Dog" robot is a movie villain waiting to happen. Also, it has no head.

Very British and very geeky, but shouldn't the Daleks be in here somewhere?

Daleks are part robot part creature, so I don't know if they qualify. Definitely evil....

Technically, they're organic beings with a crunchy metal shell. When we do a list of "Best Evil Cyborgs", they'll be duking it out with The Borg to see who gets #1.

Both the Daleks and the Cybermen are not true robots. The Daleks actually have a creamy organic-lifeform center (they're mutants who need their metal shell to survive), and the Cybermen, as we learned in the episodes Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel, actually have human brains.
That doesn't make them less awesome - but they go on the list of "Best Evil Cyborgs", along with the Borg from Star Trek.

Oh, details, details. :-)
*thinks about the above-mentioned Dalek-Borg matchup...*
Daleks all the way. As Rose said to the 4 Daleks in the Cult of Skaro, "5 million Cybermen? No problem. 1 Doctor? Now you're scared."

Daleks are alien lifeform + robotics.
Cybermen used to be human creatures that were malformed by cybernetic improvements.
Neither of these are strictly robots.

She sure does! And the character is a perfect Evil Carter, too, because she's not angry or bitter - just cooly logical.
And, y'know, she kills Daniel.

Technically I think RepliCarter is the most evil - she wanted to wipe out all organic life in the galaxy, for cryin' out loud! But Maximillian is the only robot on this list that ever prevented me from sleeping. I saw The Black Hole as a kid and I was scarred for life. He still sometimes pops up in my nightmares.

I loved Bicentennial Man. It was corny, but really sweet, and I cried at the end. (I also cry at Lifetime movies and Disney cartoons. Shut up.)
Did anyone but me notice that the offices of the robotics company in that film are Oracle's HQ?

oh snap.... those are the HQ of Oracle!
(no comment on the crying thing, as I was sobbing like a baby at the end of LOTR:Return of the King)

I wanted to, but it just didn't happen for some reason. I think they moved it too far away from the books when they took out The Scouring of the Shire.

He marries the daughter of the little girl who he first fell in love with... I mean, it borders on robotic pedophilia...
